NBA: Pending trade between Memphis, Toronto, and Detroit. Memphis gets Tayshawn Prince, Austin Daye, and a second round pick. Toronto gets Rudy Gay. Detroit gets Jose Calderon.

Joe Dumars...where do I even begin?

Let me say first that this is not the worst trade. I like Calderon. A lot actually. Andre Drummond and Greg Monroe deserve a PG like Calderon. I kind of hope he wins the starting job from Stuckey. Also I'm glad to be rid of Daye. Tay is a big loss for me because he's the last guy from the '04 championship team (which Dumars systematically dismantled on the hopes of getting ::ahem:: LeBron James). So yes there is some bitterness, but overall I do like it.

Now admittedly I have not been following closely to the NBA...but who has? There will always be a special place in my heart for the Pistons. But I have been saying for years that Tay needed to go. Yes I will miss seeing that albatross on the court, but he had some value to him and we did get a true PG in the deal. So Brandon Knight will move to the 2 spot and Calderon will be at the 1.

They've basically been rebuilding since losing in the finals in '05. I really like this group we have now, sans Stuckey. But maybe when Stuck comes off the bench, he'll be more productive as a scorer. Maxiell might be one of my favorites on the roster. He is an absolute hustle guy and the league needs more guys like him. The bench is year has depth with guys like Bynum, Singler, and Jerebko that contribute quality minutes.

But seriously. I've watched maybe 3 games this year. Impressed with the young guys and looking forward to the future with them. Maybe with the "cap space" Joey D freed up they can honestly grab a free agent worth the max contract this time.

That's probably the most I'll write about the Pistons all year, maybe one near the draft or if they make the playoffs.

Ill get into the Te'o Tuiasosopo stuff tomorrow after I see/hear the interviews.

As Always
Jonny
